The Cold War was a proxy war that involved America and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was trying to spread their communist ways to the rest of Europe. The United States did not like this so they decided that they'd get involved to stop the spread the Soviets were trying to cause.

The Bay of Pigs Invasion happened on April 17, 1961 and went to April 20, 1961. It was an attempt that the U.S. tried to kill Fidel Castro (Cuba's political leader). A big reason the U.S. hated Castro was because Castro allowed communism in Cuba and the U.S. didn't like this. This made Castro angry and was a reason that he decided to make an alliance with the Soviet Union.
